ISPID Physiology Working Group

The ISPID Physiology Working Group comprises scientists and clinicians who are working to try to understand the physiological mechanisms which make some infants more vulnerable to sudden death and also how the known risk factors for SIDS may alter normal infant physiology, particularly during sleep, and thus at increased risk. The individual members of the working party have published widely in this area and have jointly produced a number of review articles.

The Group welcomes any new ISPID members with an interest in this area of research to join. The Group meets at each biannual conference and keeps in contact via email between meetings. The Group also has a significant overlap with areas of research covered by the other working groups and actively promotes joint publications.
